From my friend, Gabriel Kuperman, who launched and runs Luang Prabang’s Film Festival:
Dear Friends,I hope this email finds you well. The project I founded and have directed for the past three years in Laos, the Luang Prabang Film Festival, has fallen short of the budget we need to make this year’s event a success. My blood, sweat, and tears have put together a terrific program set for December 1-5, 2012 (see attached), but we need your support to bring it to fruition. Please help us to raise the last bit of funds we need via KICKSTARTER, so we can continue to encourage the nascent Lao film industry, while creating a space for Southeast Asian filmmakers to meet, exchange ideas, and collaborate.Every little bit helps, so I hope you will consider making a contribution, which is fully tax-deductible through our 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, the Luang Prabang Fund for Culture and Conservation. I appreciate you spreading the word about this project, and our fundraising campaign.
Thank you so much.

Hi Folks,The good news: After just two days of launching our KICKSTARTER campaign for the Luang Prabang Film Festival, we were able to raise a whopping $5,000- half of our entire goal! This is, of course, due to generous donations from many of you. I was extremely touched by the amount of people who posted on their Facebook pages about how meaningful our special project is.The great news: At this point, we still need about $4,000 more to be able to retain any of the funds pledged. (Yes, we must make our goal to be able to keep any of the money.) But, there is still time! We’ve got about a week left to source the rest of the money. The best news: You can make this happen! If you haven’t made a tax-deductible donation yet, please do so. Any amount will make a difference. If you have already pledged funds, then please make sure to forward this email on to your colleagues, friends, family, and neighbors. With an endorsement from you, they will surely take interest.
I appreciate the time and effort you are putting into making this campaign, and the Luang Prabang Film Festival, a success.
